I just landed in my parent's home in Madras aka Chennai only to be greeted by relentless rains and gusty winds ..The North East monsoons have kicked in and heavy rains are predicted for another 48 hours . Since I could hardly step out ,I decided to potter around the house . Armed with my mobile camera , I braved the rains (just recovering from sinus ) to shoot some puddles and pictures of the garden purged by the rain drops ..Its a great feeling to capture the various greens and colours of the rains...Here is my little tribute to the monsoons

i didn't realize this was still monsoon season in india....

i love how rain brings out the green in the earth.... it gives it all a fresh perspective. i liked your perspective and the photos you captured.....

Hi ..thanks..I call it a purging of the earth . The North East Monsoon or the retreating monsoon only affects a few states down south of india . its winter rainfall here and is cyclonic in nature..and the coastal cities bear the brunt. Yesterday there was a cyclone warning and the city was flooded and trees were uprooted and I went to sleep with the wind howling in my ears...however morning is very pleasant and we heard that the depression has weakened and moved further

Some of them came excellent. I like the red spots in the green big leaves as it is found in the countryside of bengal also.

gazal- welcome to backpakker ..I like the money plant pics too..they look so luscious

mark - you sound disappointed :( Its rain and you cant do much in rain ..especially when the roads are flooded and water is threatening to enter your house and gives you a running nose ..

Pijush - ya..my mobile camera does surprise me sometimes..these plants are in my parent's house ..Im planning to bring some of them here in Bangalore once the rain stops

Nice pictures. The monsoon makes things look so lively - the trees around look so green and fresh, and the weather is pleasant.
